Crowdfunding made it on to the Six O'Clock News the other night.
I was a bit put off when they started talking about some pop stars wanting to buy a football club, but it got more interesting. People are bypassing the banks, and I can't say I blame them.
A lot of the projects do sound like donating to a charity or sponsoring someone, but there's investment crowdfunding too.

You can lend money to companies, and get interest payments that are better than a building society, and you can own shares in businesses. If the business makes a profit, you get some of the profits yourself.
